Mercedes has taken the wraps off the newest addition to the AMG family - the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC, available in both sedan (W206) and wagon (S206) formats. With technology derived directly from engine of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, the new C 43 4MATIC features tons of visual as well as mechanical changes over its predecessor. Take a read to know in depth about the new AMG C 43 -
2023 Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Powertrain
The biggest change to the new AMG C 43 is the new powertrain under the hood.
The previous edition's 385 hp twin-turbo V6 makes way for a new 2.0-litre four-pot turbo-petrol mill that belts out 408 hp of max power and has a 500 Nm peak torque output. This engine is actually the world's first series-production unit to feature an electric exhaust gas turbocharger.
Mercedes claims that "the new form of turbocharging guarantees particularly spontaneous response across the entire rev range and thus offers an even more dynamic driving experience." The turbocharger is operated via a 48-volt electrical system, which also feeds the belt-driven starter-generator (RSG). The belt-driven starter-generator can add 14 extra hp in certain conditions, if required.

The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, along with an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with rear-biased torque distribution. The new AMG C 43 also gets AMG Ride Control suspension with Adaptive Damping System. Mercedes claims that the 2023 C 43 4MATIC sedan can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds, while the new C 43 Estate takes only slightly longer for the same exercise, at 4.7 seconds.

The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph in both models. However, by adding the optional AMG Driver's Package, it can be raised to 265 kmph in each case. Moreover, there is also an 'AMG Real Performance Sound' option, which picks up actual engine sound by a sensor in the exhaust system and feeds it into the interior.
