Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the third-generation CLA. The latest iteration of the entry-level coupe-sedan will initially be available as an all-electric model, with hybrid versions set to follow later.

Mercedes-Benz CLA: Battery, range and powertrain


Leading the electric lineup is the CLA 250+ with EQ technology, boasting a range of up to 792 km as per the WLTP cycle. This variant is powered by a 268 hp rear-mounted motor, drawing power from an 85 kWh NMC battery.

The performance-spec CLA 350 4MATIC, comes with an all-wheel-drive system, generating 349 hp and offering a range of 770 km. The CLA 250+ supports ultra-fast charging, enabling a top-up of up to 325 km of range in just 10 minutes!



Moreover, Mercedes-Benz will also debut a petrol-electric version later this year. This model will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery (1.3 kWh capacity) and an integrated electric motor. The setup is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Mercedes-Benz CLA: Dimensions and features


The new CLA has also grown in size compared to its predecessor. It measures 4,723 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,468 mm in height, with a longer wheelbase of 2,790 mm. Practicality is enhanced with a 101-litre front storage compartment and a 405-litre boot.

Inside, the CLA features a modern, minimalist layout dominated by screens. It gets a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.0-inch central touchscreen, and an additional passenger display. The infotainment system runs on an updated version of MBUX, integrating Google Maps navigation and AI-powered search capabilities.

Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 16-speaker Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos, and heated front seats.
