BMW India launched the new BMW iX1 long-wheelbase electric SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The new iX1 will be locally assembled at the brand’s manufacturing facility in Chennai and is priced at Rs Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s also worth mentioning that, the iX1 is the first-ever electric BMW to be locally produced in India. Interested customers can book the new e-SUV online or by visiting their nearest BMW dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin soon.
BMW iX1 LWB: Battery, rangeTalking about the battery, range first. The iX1 is offered in a single eDrive20L M Sport variant and gets a 66.4 kWh battery pack paired with a single PMSM electric motor which puts out 204 hp of power and 250 nm torque. It has a claimed range of 531 km in one full charge and using a 130 kW DC charger the battery can be juiced from 10 % to 80 % in 29 minutes (120 kms range in 10 min). Using an 11 kW AC charger it can be juiced from 0 % to 100 % in about 6.5 hours. The EV SUV comes with an 11 kW wall box charger.
BMW iX1 LWB: DesignIn terms of design, the iX1 features a large BMW kidney grille with distinct ‘I’ identification. It also gets sleek adaptive LED headlights with chrome highlights on the grille. The silhouette and side remain the same and it features 18-inch M light alloy wheels wrapped up in EV-specific tyres. Moving rear, it gets L-shaped LED taillights with an integrated spoiler and a skid plate below. In terms of dimensions, the width remains consistent at 1,845 mm (72.6 inches) , the wheelbase is extended by 112 mm to 2,800 mm (110.2 inches), and the overall length increases by 116 mm to 4,616 mm (181.7 inches). This expansion provides additional interior space, particularly benefiting rear-seat passengers. The BMW iX1 LWB is offered in Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue, and Sparkling Copper Grey.
BMW iX1 LWB: InteriorMoving inside, the overall layout is the same as the X1 and features a “Widescreen Curved Display” that combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control system, a 205W 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Safety features include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a park assist feature, eight airbags, ISOFIX anchors for child seats, and an electronic parking brake.
