While the driver’s chest and upper legs were rated as ‘Marginal’ in protection, the passenger’s chest received an ‘Adequate’ rating, with other body parts offering better protection. In the side impact and pole impact tests, the Basalt performed well, receiving ‘Good’ ratings across the board.

For child occupant protection, the Basalt scored 35.90 points out of 49. The tests revealed that for the 18-month-old dummy, the front and side protection received a perfect score, while the 3-year-old dummy’s frontal impact score was slightly lower, though side protection remained strong.

With these safety scores, the Citroen Basalt is positioned as one of the safer options in its segment. It is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 13.83 lakh, ex-showroom.
