Honda ZR-V hybrid revealed: Launch date, engine & more

Honda Cars India has just revealed the new Honda ZR-V SUV in the Indian market as its flagship SUV. The pre-bookings for the Honda ZR-V are underway. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting their nearest dealership. Price announcement is expected to happen sometime in June, and the deliveries will begin in July 2026. The SUV will be bought in India via the CBU route. This will push its pricing into a higher bracket due to import duties and related costs. The SUV is likely to be priced around 50 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it competes with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Nissan X-Trail and more.

The SUV is based on Honda’s global compact platform, which is a monocoque construction. The architecture supports front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and hybrid powertrains in global markets. In terms of size, the Honda ZR-V measures about 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of around 2,655-2,657 mm.


Talking about the powertrain, the ZR-V will be offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a dual electric motor. The strong hybrid engine produces a combined power of 184hp of power and 315Nm. It comes paired with an e-CVT automatic gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels. Honda says the ZR-V can sprint from 0-100kph in 8 seconds. It has an electronically limited top speed of 172kph and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.79kpl. In the global markets, the ZR-V gets an all-wheel-drive (AWD) and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Design-wise, the ZR-V features a crossover-like design with clean surfaces. At the front, it features a large grille and wide LED headlamps, integrated neatly into the fascia to deliver a restrained yet noticeable presence. In profile, the SUV appears lower than typical models, with a sloping roofline and a long wheelbase, giving it proportions closer to a raised hatchback than a conventional tall SUV.

At rear, it features wraparound LED tail lamps, a slightly raked rear glass and a simple tailgate layout. A roof-mounted spoiler adds a mild sporty element while maintaining the overall clean design. The exterior is positioned as more urban-focused than rugged. Moving inside, the Honda ZR-V adopts a straightforward cabin design. Controls are arranged logically, with an emphasis on accessibility from the driver’s seat. The infotainment screen is positioned as a standalone unit at the top of the dashboard, clearly separated from the physical switchgear below. Honda has continued to use conventional buttons and rotary controls for functions such as climate controls.

The ZR-V Hybrid comes with a dual-screen layout featuring a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. The SUV also gets dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, ambient lighting and a powered tailgate. Honda has equipped the cabin with leatherette seat upholstery, centre armrests for both rows, an 8-way powered driver’s seat and a 4-way powered front passenger seat. On the safety front, the ZR-V Hybrid includes eight airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a 360-degree camera.
