India-made Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara launched in Brazil: Here’s what’s different
Maruti Suzuki India recently launched the new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara electric SUV in the Indian market. The e-Vitara marks Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle for India and will be manufactured at its Gujarat plant, from which it will also be exported to more than 100 countries. And now, the made-in-India e-Vitara has made its way to Brazil. The official prices of the e-Vitara have not been revealed yet; however, according to a few sources, it will be priced around R$ 269,990 (around Rs 48 lakh ex-showroom, as per current exchange rates). The e-Vitara is currently listed on the company’s official website in Brazil. However, the pricing has not been disclosed yet, as the price section displays “price upon request.”
This move is part of the company’s wider plan to roll out the electric SUV in more than 100 global markets. The eVitara is already being exported to about 29 countries, including Japan and several European markets such as the UK. It’s expected to be soon launched in markets like Chile, Peru and Colombia alongside Brazil. The Suzuki eVitara sold in Brazil is largely identical to the India-spec version. It’s also offered in a single top-of-the-line trim with a single battery pack.
The e-Vitara in Brazil is powered by a 61 kWh battery pack paired with two electric motors - one at each axle which also enables All Wheel Drive capability. The front motor produces 174 hp and 192 Nm of torque, while the rear motor delivers 65 hp and 114 Nm. The eVitara supports DC fast charging of up to 150 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in about 45 minutes. Using a 7 kW AC charger, a full charge from 10% to 100% takes around 9 hours.
Features-wise, it gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen supported by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud-based navigation, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 colour options and ventilated front seats. Apart from that, it gets features such as wireless charging, a JBL sound system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports, and an in-cabin air purifier. In terms of safety, the model gets seven airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS functions such as Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and more.
