Mahindra Thar Roxx Star edition launched: What’s new and what’s different
Mahindra and Mahindra has launched the Mahindra Thar Roxx Star edition in the Indian market. This new Edition is built on the range-topping AX7L variant with prices starting from Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom), It introduces a revised blacked-out treatment for both the exterior and interior, while also bringing a new paint option to the Thar line-up with the Star Edition. Interested customers can book the SUV online or visit their nearest Mahindra dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin soon.
The Roxx Star edition is available in three main variants: Petrol AT priced at Rs 17.85 lakh, Diesel MT priced at Rs 16.85 lakh, and Diesel AT priced at Rs 18.35 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Mechanically, it remains the same; it continues to be offered with the MStallion 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which puts out 177 PS of power, and 380 Nm of torque. Talking about the diesel, the 2.2-litre MHawk turbo diesel puts out 175 PS of power and 370 nm torque in 4x4 variants and 152 PS of power, and 330 nm torque in RWD variants. The diesel engine is offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options, while the petrol variant is available only with an automatic transmission. Notably, the Star Edition does not get a 4x4 system and is sold exclusively in a rear-wheel-drive configuration.
The Thar Roxx Star Edition gets a few cosmetic upgrades over the Thar Roxx, including a gloss-black grille and alloy wheels. It also features a Star EDN badge placed on the C-pillar. In contrast, the regular model uses a body-coloured grille and diamond-cut wheels. Mahindra has also introduced a new Citrine Yellow paint option with this edition, joining existing choices such as Tango Red, Everest White and Stealth Black.
The cabin switches to an all-black layout, replacing the lighter upholstery with black leatherette seats featuring suede accents. Aside from these visual changes, the feature list remains the same as the AX7 trim. In terms of features, the Roxx gets a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped door trims, 6-way powered driver seat, front ventilated seats, cooled glove box, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, obstacle view, 9-speaker Harman/Kardon speakers with subwoofer, power foldable ORVM, 65 Watt USB C ports, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital cluster, Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, wireless charger, an acoustic windshield, leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlights with wipers, footwell lighting, ambient lighting and much more. Safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, all-wheel disc brakes, TPMS and more.
