Mercedes-Benz GLE, GLS Night Edition launched: Price, what's special
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new Night Edition versions of the GLE and GLS SUVs in the country. These are two of the brand’s highest-selling luxury SUVs in their standard avatars. However, the limited-series models are part of a global production run and will be available in restricted numbers for the Indian market. Here’s a quick look at some key details that you need to know.
The Night Edition range gets a blacked-out exterior treatment along with two colour options: Obsidian Black and the new Alpine Grey shade, which is exclusive to these special editions and not offered on the standard GLE and GLS. Both SUVs also receive unique cosmetic updates and additional equipment over the regular models.
Prices for the GLE Night Edition start at Rs 1.05 crore, ex-showroom, for the GLE 300d, while the petrol-powered GLE 450 is priced at Rs 1.14 crore. In the GLS range, the GLS 450 Night Edition costs Rs 1.41 crore, while the GLS 450d Night Edition is priced at Rs 1.43 crore. All prices are ex-showroom.
On the outside, both SUVs feature dark-themed styling elements. Inside, Mercedes-Benz has equipped the Night Edition models with black Nappa leather upholstery and Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim, both exclusive to this edition. A Head-Up Display is now offered as standard on both SUVs.
The GLE Night Edition also gets AIRMATIC suspension as an additional upgrade over the standard model.
Under the hood, the mechanical setup remains unchanged. The GLE 300d uses a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 265 and 550 Nm, while the GLE 450 gets a 3.0-litre petrol engine making 375 hp and 500 Nm. The GLS 450 also uses the same petrol unit, whereas the GLS 450d comes powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine producing 362 hp and 750 Nm. All variants are paired with a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox.
