Volkswagen Tayron teased, launch soon: What to expect from this 7-seater SUV
Volkswagen has dropped a fresh teaser of its upcoming three-row SUV, the Tayron. The company will be launching the model soon in India. The new SUV will sit above the Tiguan in the brand’s local line-up and is expected to be positioned as Volkswagen’s flagship family SUV for the market.
The teaser gives a partial look at the Tayron’s design, revealing a strong focus on lighting elements. Up front, the SUV gets a full-width LED light bar with an illuminated Volkswagen logo at the centre. A similar treatment in a new teaser is seen in the rear as well, with connected LED tail-lamps and a glowing VW badge. Overall, the design appears premium and in line with Volkswagen’s latest global styling direction.
The Tayron is based on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform, which it shares with models like the Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. Inside, the SUV is expected to offer a modern cabin with a digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen and a three-spoke steering wheel.
Under the hood, the India-spec Tayron R-Line is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, the same unit seen on the Tiguan R-Line. This engine produces around 204 h) and 320 Nm of torque and will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen is expected to bring the Tayron to India via the CKD route and assemble it at its Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant. The SUV is slated to launch in the first quarter of 2026 and will initially be offered in the sporty R-Line trim.
