Bajaj Chetak tops e-scooter sales in Q4 FY’25: Over 1k units sold daily in March!
Bajaj Auto’s electric scooter, the Chetak, has achieved a major sales milestone, emerging as India’s best-selling electric scooter in the fourth quarter of FY2024-25. The company clocked a record-breaking 34,863 units in March 2025 alone: an average of over 1,124 scooters sold each day. This performance helped Bajaj capture a commanding 29% share of the e-scooter market during the quarter.
This sales momentum marks a historic high for the Chetak, with annual volumes reaching 2,30,761 units: a staggering 116 % increase compared to the 1,06,624 units sold in the previous financial year. Much of this success is attributed to the launch of two new model lines: the Chetak 29 Series and the Chetak 35 Series. Together, these contributed over two lakh units in sales in 2024.
The Chetak 35 Series is built on a new platform with floorboard-integrated batteries, it comes equipped with a 3.5kWh battery pack offering a range of up to 153 km. It also features a 950W onboard charger that can juice the scooter from 0 to 80% in three hours. The 4kW electric motor enables a top speed of 73 kmph.
Design enhancements on the 35 Series include an extended seat, wider floorboard, and 35 litres of under-seat storage. It retains Chetak’s hallmark all-metal body, still a rarity in the electric scooter space.
On the tech front, the 35 Series offers a rich set of features including a touchscreen TFT display with built-in navigation, music, and call controls. Safety and convenience are further boosted by geo-fencing, accident detection, theft alerts, and overspeed warnings.
Bajaj’s extensive nationwide presence has played a key role in supporting the Chetak’s growth. The brand now has dealerships in 507 towns, with 4,000 sales points and 3,800 service workshops across India.
