After revealing a series of teasers, Maserati today finally unveiled its second all-electric super sports car, the GranTurismo Folgore. Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Maserati is offering the new GranTurismo Folgore with the new concept "The Others Just Travel".

Featuring a typical Maserati silhouette and the long bonnet, the upcoming GranTurismo Folgore EV gets a sloping roofline, LED illuminated triple vents and Folgore badging on the front fenders.

The electric sports car has received a revised front grille and a rear diffuser without exhaust. It also comes equipped with unique Aero wheels to ride on. Inside, the GranTurismo Folgore EV gets a steering wheel that has a drive mode selector and a start/stop button built into it, according to various media reports.

Maserati is offering this super sports car with the default driving modes - GT Mode and Max Range Mode. The former limits the power to 80%, while the latter limits top speed to 130 kmph.

The new Maserati GranTurismo Folgore electric coupe makes use of an 800V architecture and developed with the technical solutions derived from Formula E. Mechanically, the new GranTurismo Folgore EV makes use of three 300 kW (402 hp) electric motors, one being placed at the front wheel and two on the rear axle, allowing torque vectoring. Cumulatively, these motors churns out a peak power of over 1,200 hp and a max torque of 1,350 Nm.

Maserati states that the battery pack with a nominal capacity of 92.5 kWh (83 kWh usable) can produce around 751hp power and 996Nm torque to all four wheels. The GranTurismo Folgore EV sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 2.7 seconds and has an impressive top speed of 320 kmph, which is similar to the GranTurismo Trofeo.

In terms of range, Maserati estimates that the battery-powered GranTurismo Folgore will cover 450 km on the WLTP cycle.

The manufacturer has not yet revealed the interior images, but says that the GranTurismo Folgore will be equipped with premium features, such as Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, a digital clock, Sonus faber 3D sound system and more.

This new Maserati super sports car will be manufactured at the Mirafiori production facility in Turin and deliveries are likely to start from July 2023. The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV price is expected to start from $170,000 in the US market.

Love Maserati's - even bought an old Quattroporte to fulfill teenage dreams of owning one. That said, wonder how much pollution is required to MAKE the extra USD 90K in order to purchase this "green" vehicle. At USD 3 per gallon, that is about 30K gallons just for the added cost over an ICE machine. That works out to approx. 400K/600K miles based on their own numbers for city/highway mileage ratings. Have yet to see any Maserati odometer clock over 150K miles, except in collections. What is my point? That's it, exactly - What IS the point of this pretend green BS? The manufacture process PLUS that of the batteries has been proven that an EV does not breakeven on environmental costs of product manufacture before 10 - 12 years of exclusive usage (approx. 20-40K miles per year). This does NOT include the environmental cost of the charging stations PLUS the energy to recharge the vehicles. Life of the battery is estimated at 10 years. By the time the environmental cost of production of just the car without batteries is brought down to zero, you now need new batteries. I would love to save our planet and make it a better place for our kids. But, let us stop kidding ourselves - we have to revert back to pre - industrial age practices. Yes, that means no more towers and sky scrapers, probably no electricity, less food for 8 billion people, OMG - no twitter, Instagram, tinder, etc. As a species, we will come to this very realization only after it is too late, and nature has made a decision to wipe out our species to save the rest of the planet.
