Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed the launch of the EQS electric sedan in the country will take place on August 24. It has also been confirmed that the EQS' performance-oriented AMG version, i.e. EQS 53 4MATIC+ will be making its debut first, which could be followed by the launch of the standard EQS.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ will be brought to the country through the CBU route initially, followed by the commencement of local assembly later for EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4MATIC. Upon arrival, the EQS 53 4MATIC+ will go on to become the second Mercedes-Benz electric car in India, after the EQC.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ uses two electric motors - one on each axle, which lends it the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. The flagship electric sedan has a maximum power output of 658 PS, with a 950 Nm peak torque rating. The EQS 53 4MATIC+ can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, with the top-speed limited to 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ gets AMG Dynamic Select driving modes- Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. Apart from that, there's also the AMG Ride Control+ suspension that combines fully-automatic electronically controlled adjustable damping together with rear-axle steering.
On the inside, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ electric sedan gets AMG seats with special graphics and artificial leather seat covers. Alternatively, seat upholstery in Nappa leather is also available. It also gets the latest version of Mercedes-Benz's MBUX Hyperscreen that conjoins three screens to make it look like its a single unit.
More details about the India-spec Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ including its price will be revealed closer to its launch, so stay tuned!
