Jaguar RCS Racing's Mitch Evans has decided to keep his title chances alive producing a victory under pressure in the Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix Round 15. Evans sliced into Stoffel Vandoorne's points advantage as he pushed from third to the top of the podium. The Kiwi dispatched Julius Baer Polesitter Oliver Rowland (Mahindra Racing) off the line as the Brit struggled to get away cleanly over greasy road markings, plus the circuit was still soaked from a downpour earlier. Evans then rounded Lucas di Grassi (Rokit Venturi Racing) with a stealthy move into Turn 3, again on the opening lap.
Mahindra Racing took pole position and a second-place finish in the first of two races at Seoul, held in the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium earlier today, thanks to Rowland's brilliant performance in his #30 Mahindra M8Electro.
In the swansong weekend for the Gen2 machine, and on the eve of the 100th Formula E race for Mahindra Racing, the brave Brit showed ultimate car control in the wet to qualify on pole. In the final of the Duel battles he went head-to-head with Lucas Di Grassi, who will join the Indian team for the Gen3 era, out-qualifying him by 0.6 of a second.
The race was marred with incidents and seven cars retired from the race. Rowland now takes a total of 21 points towards the team’s tally to climb one place in the overall team standings.
