Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen has created history after winning the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix! The Red Bull Racing driver recorded his 14th win of the season at the 4.304 km long Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, moving one clear of the 13 achieved by Michael Schumacher (2004) and Sebastian Vettel (2013). Verstappen has now won in Mexico in four different years, including 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022. The Dutch driver has now also set a new record for the highest points ever achieved in an F1 season i.e. 416 (so far).

Red Bull's soft-medium tyre strategy seemed to work for Max Verstappen at the Mexico City GP helping him take a victory 15 seconds clear of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton in second. Meanwhile it was homeboy Sergio Perez who rounded off the podium in front of his home crowd, with Hamilton's teammate George Russell securing P4.

The 2022 Mexican Grand Prix had an identical finish as the 2021 edition of the Formula 1 race, with the exact same podium as last year, and Ferrari taking P5 as well as P6. However, it was Carlos Sainz who was ahead this time around, with Leclerc having to settle for sixth, moving a spot down to third in the Drivers' points standings.
