F1 2024: Alfa Romeo exit transforms Sauber Formula One Team into 'Stake F1 Kick Sauber'
The Sauber Formula One team is set to undergo a significant rebranding for the 2024 season following the departure of its title sponsor, Alfa Romeo. As per the official lists released by the FIA on Friday, the team will be known as the 'Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber.'
The decision to rebrand comes in the wake of Alfa Romeo's withdrawal from its role as the title sponsor, a move announced last month. While the exact name for 2024 is yet to be finalized, the Swiss team will incorporate the names of two existing sponsors prominently featured on their single-seater for the next two seasons.
Stake, an Australian online casino and sports betting site, and Kick, a video streaming service owned by the founders of Stake with 22 million registered users since its launch last year, will become integral parts of the team's new identity.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Sauber Motorsport Team Representative, stated, "Sauber has always been about innovation, breaking the mould, and defying convention. The partnership with Kick.com is the latest and boldest display of the philosophy that drives us."
Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas will continue as the team's drivers in the upcoming year, with their cars remaining powered by Ferrari until the anticipated arrival of Audi in 2026. Alfa Romeo faced challenges in recapturing its early-season form in 2023, securing only 16 points throughout the year.
Consequently, Valtteri Bottas finished the drivers' championship in 15th place, a decline of five positions from 2022, and Zhou Guanyu secured the 18th position in both seasons.
