Marquez, who is currently riding for Gresini, Ducati's satellite team, will replace Italian rider Enea Bastianini on a two-year contract. Marquez joined Gresini at the start of 2024 after spending 11 seasons with Honda. Despite riding a 2023-spec bike, he has made a significant impact, currently sitting third overall in the championship standings, just 35 points behind leader Jorge Martin.

Marquez's performance this season has been impressive, considering he has not won a race since October 2021. Notably, he has managed to start from challenging positions, such as P13, and finish on the podium, showcasing his resilience and skill.

The move was widely anticipated following the announcement that rising star Jorge Martin would be joining Aprilia from Ducati-Pramac, another Ducati satellite team. Marquez's transition to the factory team marks a significant milestone in his career, providing him with an opportunity to compete at the highest level with the reigning world champions. Marquez will undoubtedly be relieved and excited to join the factory team after just one season with Gresini. "I am very happy to be able to wear the red colours of the factory Ducati team in MotoGP next season," Marquez said.

"I am happy to be able to take this big step in 2025 and grateful for the trust Ducati has placed in me."
