"The race is very much on": Fairstreet CEO rubbishes Indian MotoGP cancellation rumours
Fairstreet, the co-promoter of the Bharat MotoGP, slated to be held in September later this year, has refuted recent reports saying that the event will be cancelled. Recent reports have stated that Kazakhstan is poised to take the place of India in the 2024 MotoGP calendar. This change comes as Fairstreets Sports, the local promoters in India, have reportedly failed to fulfill their financial obligations to MotoGP rights holders, Dorna.

Last year, Greater Noida hosted the first-ever MotoGP race in India following a seven-year agreement between Faristreet Sports and Dorna. It is worth noting that there has not been an official comment from Dorna regarding this matter and the Indian GP is still listed on the calendar.

“Race is very much on”: Pushkar Nath Srivastava, CEO, Fairstreet
"The race is very much on. These are just rumours floating around. All of the contractual obligations will be met in June," Srivastava said while speaking to PTI, rubbishing the claims that Kazakhstan will replace the Bharat GP.
Due to the model code of conduct enforced during India's Lok Sabha elections until June 4, the UP government can only intervene after the election results. It basically regulates political activities during elections, hence the UP govt won't be able to intervene, at least until June 4. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh had extended financial support of Rs 18 crore to Fairstreet Sports for the inaugural event. In March, the government requested a detailed report on the fund utilization, which has since been submitted by the local promoters.
Since last year, significant changes have occurred on the MotoGP grid. Marc Marquez departed from factory Honda to join Gresini Ducati, where he has been performing consistently this season. Conversely, two-time World Champion Pecco Bagnaia has experienced a decline in form, currently sitting at fifth position in the title race, while last season's runner-up Jorge Martin leads the pack. Looking ahead, MotoGP will return to Spain for the Barcelona GP scheduled between May 24-26.
