Worst traffic jams ever in the world: Stretched for 840 km

Traffic jam has become one of the significant problems with the growing population in India as well as across the world. Here we are sharing the worst traffic jams ever recorded in the world.

According to a report, Sao Paulo set a record with a traffic congestion 292 km of stalled vehicles over 840 km of blocked city streets on June 10, 2009. The highways and city streets were blocked completely. (Image Source - Hotcars)

​On November 30, 2012, winter storm wreaked havoc in Moscow, Russia, causing a traffic congestion for around three days. Due to the storm, the highway connecting St. Petersburg to Moscow was piled in snow that stalled the traffic for up to 201 km, according to a report. (Image Source - WorldAtlas)

​Another record-breaking traffic jam occurred in Texas on September 21, 2005. Due to the Hurricane Rita, the Houston residents were heading on road for evacuation, which resulted in 161 km of traffic, lasted for two days on Interstate 45, Texas. (Image Source - Hotcars)

The worst traffic jam ever in China was reported on August 14, 2010 that stretched for up to 12 days and 100 km. This jam started when a number of heavy trucks and cars tried to cross the Beijing-Tibet Expressway.
