MRF has unveiled its latest innovation, the 'Aero-Muscle' tyre, specifically developed for the upcoming Tejas Mk2 fighter jet, during the recent ‘Tarang Shakti’ exercise held at Sulur Airbase in Tamil Nadu. Although MRF is widely known for its automotive tyres, the company has also played a vital role in supporting the Indian Air Force's combat aircraft. The Tejas Mk2, an advanced version of India's Light Combat Aircraft, is designed to handle more demanding operational scenarios with increased speed and payload capacity. To meet these requirements, MRF has developed the Aero-Muscle tyre, a robust and larger alternative to the tyres used in the previous Mk1 model.

MRF’s Aero-Muscle Tyre: Details

The new tyre, with dimensions of 27.5 X 7.5-16, is engineered to withstand the greater loads and faster speeds of the Tejas Mk2, ensuring reliability in the most intense conditions. Over the past two decades, MRF has produced around 26,000 tyres for various military aircraft, including the Su-30s and helicopters like the Dhruv and Chetak.

Manufactured at MRF's Medak plant in Telangana, these tyres have been integral to reinforcing India’s aviation capabilities and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. The Aero-Muscle for the Tejas are expected to continue this legacy by supporting the next generation of Indian fighter jets with world-class, domestically produced technology.
