Deepak J Matai appointed as CEO of Bajaj Finserv Health
MUMBAI: Deepak J Matai has been appointed chief executive officer of Bajaj Finserv Health, a subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv, as the company looks to expand its health-tech platform and partner network across healthcare and wellness services.
Matai, who replaces Devang Mody, has more than 25 years of experience across financial services, insurance and consumer businesses. He joins from UK-based assistance and insurance services provider - CPP Group, where he served as CEO for India, Bangladesh and Malaysia, leading distribution partnerships across BFSI, customer propositions and operations. He has also held senior positions at Barclays and SBI Card.
As CEO, Matai will lead BFHL, Vidal and associated companies in the next phase of growth. The company said his focus will include strengthening the health-tech ecosystem, expanding partner integrations and deepening customer value across healthcare, wellness and allied services. He will also work with teams across the group to drive innovation, execution, compliance and customer trust.
"India has 16% of the world’s population but accounts for just 1% of global healthcare spending, making it one of the most important and fast-growing opportunities of our time," said Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman & MD, Bajaj Finserv. He added that Bajaj Health was built as a health-tech platform to bring providers, services and payers together, and make healthcare more accessible and seamless. “A strong foundation is already in place, and Deepak with his expertise and strategic guidance, will take the company to its next phase of growth.," he added.
BFHL operates a digital platform serving insurers, corporates and Govt through partnerships across wellness, OPD and IPD services. Its network includes 130,000 doctors, 6,500 lab touch points and 15,000 hospitals, including 2,500 enabled for cashless OPD.
The platform processes nearly 24 million transactions annually and is supported by 660 doctors for claims adjudication. The company said the platform is built on a micro-services architecture with an app-first design and AI-led abuse management for digital cashless healthcare journeys.
