Silver Price Today Live: Silver undergoing phase of consolidation

On the COMEX, gold was trading near $5,017.60, reflecting an increase of $20.20, or 0.40%. Silver was quoted at $78.310 per ounce, up by $0.676.
Following an exceptional surge in 2025 that extended into January, gold has since retreated by 25%, equivalent to about Rs 38,000, from its record high.

Similarly, silver is undergoing a phase of consolidation and has fallen sharply from its all-time peak of Rs 4,20,048. The white metal has declined by 41%, or roughly Rs 1,74,000, from that high point.

Gold Rate Today Live: Gold crosses Rs 1.56 lakh mark

Gold futures rose on Friday, with prices rising by Rs 1,315 to reach Rs 1.56 lakh per 10 grams, mirroring strong global cues. The uptick came amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, which reinforced demand for the precious metal as a safe-haven investment.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, April contracts of the yellow metal increased by Rs 1,315, or 0.85%, to trade at Rs 1,56,134 per 10 grams, with a total turnover of 7,355 lots during the session.

In overseas markets, April gold futures on Comex climbed by USD 49.55, marking a 1% gain, to settle at USD 5,046.95 per ounce.

Gold Rate Today Live: Oil to leap like gold?

An analyst at Samco Securities, who had previously anticipated the strong rally in gold and silver, now suggests that the next significant upswing may emerge in the global oil market. He contends that the “energy phase” of the broader commodity supercycle is starting to take shape.

Apurva Sheth, Head of Market Perspectives and Research at the firm, stated that the recent rebound in West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude from the $55 level carries both technical and structural importance. In a research note, he observed that the commodity has established a pattern of higher highs and higher lows, indicating a bullish trend, and is advancing toward the $66 level. Immediate support is identified in the $62–$63 range, with a stronger base around $59.

He further explained that the relative strength index remains above the 50 mark, signalling sustained positive momentum despite short-term price swings. According to him, crude’s present formation resembles a flag consolidation beneath a downward-sloping trendline. A clear breakout above $66, he said, could pave the way for a move toward $72–$73 in the near term.

Gold prices in the domestic market opened higher on Friday, supported by firm global trends, as ongoing geopolitical uncertainties continued to strengthen the metal’s safe-haven demand. April gold futures on the MCX rose by around Rs 400 per 10 grams, or 0.24%, to Rs 1,55,198. At the same time, March silver futures rose 1.24%, or Rs 3,000, to Rs 2,44,390 per kg, compared with the previous close of Rs 2,41,400.

In international markets, gold on the COMEX was trading at about $5,017.60, reflecting a gain of $20.20 or 0.40%. Silver prices were quoted at $78.310 per ounce, up by $0.676.

Gold Rate Today Live: Interest rate outlook

Gold, which does not generate interest income, benefits in a lower-rate environment. The minutes of the January 27–28 meeting of the Federal Reserve, made public on Wednesday, indicated differing views among policymakers regarding the future course of monetary policy. Some officials signalled a willingness to consider further rate increases if inflation remains elevated, while others supported the possibility of rate reductions should price pressures moderate.

Meanwhile, US weekly unemployment claims declined to 206,000 for the week ending February 14, significantly below the projected 225,000. This drop underscored labour market resilience, echoing the strength highlighted in last week’s solid monthly employment data.

Market participants are now focused on Friday’s release of the US Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, the inflation measure most closely monitored by the Federal Reserve, for additional guidance on the central bank’s policy direction.

According to the CME Group FedWatch Tool, investors currently anticipate that the first US interest rate cut of the year could come in June.

He further noted that the breakdown of renewed talks between Russia and Ukraine has reignited uncertainty across global markets, leading investors to channel more funds into defensive assets.

According to Gandhi, as geopolitical hotspots flare up, investors are shifting capital away from risk-oriented instruments and moving it into conventional safe-haven options, thereby continuing to underpin gold prices.

Silver Price Today Live: Silver prices jump Rs 18,000 per kg

Prices of precious metals in the national capital witnessed a sharp rally on Thursday, climbing more than 7 per cent. Silver soared to Rs 2.6 lakh per kilogram, while gold strengthened to Rs 1.58 lakh per 10 grams, mirroring strong global cues and heightened demand for safe-haven assets amid rising US–Iran tensions.

Traders in the local bullion market said silver, often referred to as the white metal, jumped by Rs 18,000 — a gain of 7.32 per cent — to Rs 2,64,000 per kg (inclusive of all taxes), compared with Wednesday’s closing price of Rs 2,46,000 per kg.

Similarly, gold of 99.9 per cent purity increased by Rs 1,950, or 1.24 per cent, reaching Rs 1,58,650 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes), up from its previous close of Rs 1,56,700 per 10 grams.

Gold futures edge higher; April contract climbs above Rs 1.56 lakh per 10 gm

As of 5:57 pm, the most active April 2026 gold futures contract was trading at Rs 1,56,069 per 10 grams, up Rs 308 or 0.20% from the previous close, after touching an intraday high of Rs 1,57,185. The June 2026 contract slipped marginally by 0.10% to Rs 1,58,800, indicating mild profit-booking in deferred positions, while the August 2026 contract outperformed, rising 2.01% to Rs 1,62,795 amid fresh long additions despite relatively thin volumes.

Silver Price Today Live: Silver futures climb

Silver futures climbed on Thursday, gaining Rs 1,037 to reach Rs 2,45,305 per kilogram, supported by positive cues from international markets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, March silver contracts advanced by Rs 1,037, or 0.42%, to Rs 2,45,305 per kg, with a trading volume of 1,589 lots. Market analysts attributed the uptick to fresh buying interest and the creation of new positions by traders.

In global markets, silver was quoted 1.46% higher at USD 78.32 per ounce in New York.

Jigar Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst at IndusInd Securities, noted that the metal remained above the USD 77 per ounce mark after surging nearly 5% in the previous session. He said the broader metals complex rebounded even as the dollar strengthened on the back of solid US economic indicators and hawkish commentary from the Federal Reserve.

The minutes from the Fed’s January meeting showed differing views among policymakers. While traders slightly scaled back expectations of rate reductions this year, they continue to factor in two quarter-percentage-point cuts before the end of the year.

Additional support for silver and other precious metals came from escalating geopolitical risks. The US bolstered its military deployment in the Middle East amid worries over a potential confrontation with Iran, while negotiations between Ukraine and Russia ended without a significant breakthrough, further underpinning safe-haven demand.

Gold Rate Today Live: Iran tensions support prices

Yesterday, despite mostly positive US data and a firmer US Dollar, spot gold closed around 2% higher at as traders shifted their positions ahead of the January 28 FOMC minutes. In addition, geopolitical tensions resurfaced as traders became concerned that Iran related worries may not subside anytime soon. The US Vice President JD Vance said Iran had failed to acknowledge core U.S. demands in Geneva talks concluded Tuesday which did not yield any breakthrough; thus, military action remained an option.

US industrial production (January) and housing starts (December) beat the estimates.

Today’s US data include trade balance (Dec.), pending home sales (Jan.), Philadelphia Fed Business outlook (Feb.) and weekly job data.

Gold, currently trading with a gain of 0.70% at $5013, is expected to move as per geopolitical situation in short term. It is still stuck in $4700-$5100 range. Barring Iran issue, gold is currently looking overextended. Support is at $4950/$4850. Resistance is at $5130, says Praveen Singh, Head of Commodities and Currencies, Mirae Asset ShareKhan.

Gold Rate Today Live: Heightened volatility

Manoj Kumar Jain of Prithvi Finmart noted that both metals continue to witness heightened volatility. On a weekly closing basis, silver is expected to find support around $63.90 per troy ounce, while gold may hold near $4,770 per troy ounce. For the ongoing session, gold has support in the $4,964–$4,915 range and faces resistance between $5,055 and $5,122 per troy ounce. Silver, meanwhile, has support at $74.40–$72.00 and resistance at $80.00–$82.40 per troy ounce.

On the MCX, gold is likely to receive support at Rs 1,54,400–1,52,200, with resistance placed at Rs 1,56,800–1,59,100. Silver’s support is seen at Rs 2,38,000–2,32,800, while resistance is pegged at Rs 2,49,000–2,54,400. Jain recommended that traders consider taking profits on long positions at higher levels and refrain from initiating fresh purchases until Chinese markets resume trading.

Jain observed that ongoing ambiguity around rate cuts, along with firmness in the dollar index, may act as a ceiling on gains in gold and silver.

Gold and silver futures began Thursday’s session slightly weaker on the MCX as traders weighed rising strains between the United States and Iran against ongoing ambiguity surrounding the Federal Reserve’s path on interest rate reductions. Although geopolitical concerns have continued to underpin safe-haven interest in precious metals, the strength of the dollar and mixed cues from the Fed have limited further upside.

MCX Gold futures for April 2026 delivery slipped by Rs 271, or 0.14 per cent, to trade at Rs 1,55,544 per 10 grams. Silver futures expiring on March 5, 2026 also declined, falling Rs 8,166, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 2,43,452 per kilogram.

Safe-haven demand remained supported by escalating friction between US and Iran, particularly concerns around maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, alongside stalled nuclear negotiations and persistent uncertainty from the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Silver’s pace of recovery was much faster than that of Gold, as roughly 69moz moved out of COMEX vaults this year, easing spot tightness and signaling stronger physical demand.

However, sentiment softened after Fed minutes revealed policymaker divisions, with some warning further tightening may be needed if inflation stays sticky while others signaled potential easing later in the year. The possibility of higher-for-longer rates lifted the dollar and Treasury yields, capping bullion gains. Markets now await the upcoming PCE inflation data and GDP data for clearer policy direction cues, says Manav Modi Commodities Analyst Motilal Oswal Financial services Ltd.

On January 31, silver plunged 27 per cent in a single session, marking its steepest-ever decline. The sharp fall came after an exceptional 170 per cent surge in 2025. In 2026, the metal scaled an all-time high of Rs 4.20 lakh per kilogram.

Gold Rate Today Live: MCX, NSE withdraw additional margins on gold and silver futures

Multi Commodity Exchange of India and National Stock Exchange of India have decided to roll back the extra margins that were levied on gold and silver futures, with the change coming into effect from Thursday, February 19.

MCX announced that it will discontinue the additional 3 per cent margin applicable on all gold futures contracts as well as the 7 per cent extra margin imposed on silver futures earlier this month. The exchange has informed its clearing members to take note of the updated margin structure.

In a separate communication, NSE Clearing Ltd confirmed that the supplementary margins introduced on February 4, amounting to 3 per cent for gold futures and 7 per cent for silver futures, will be withdrawn from February 19. Members have been advised to realign their positions in line with the revised requirements.

One of the major reasons for gold prices rallying in the last 18 months has been aggressive buying by central banks who are looking to diversify their foreign exchange reserves away from the US dollar.
