Gold, silver rates today live: Comex futures register 8% jump

In international markets, Comex silver futures for March delivery jumped USD 6.73, or 8.08%, to USD 90.03 per ounce, while April gold contracts rose USD 169.50, or 3.43%, to USD 5,104.50 per ounce.

“Gold surged past USD 5,000, and silver rallied over 8%, driven by a broader risk-on sentiment that lifted markets,” said Manav Modi.

Renisha Chainani, Head of Research at Augmont, noted, “Gold has recovered nearly 15% from recent lows, while silver has rebounded about 25%, as forced liquidations eased and dip buyers returned to capitalise on lower prices.” She added that escalating geopolitical tensions supported safe-haven demand after the US Navy shot down an Iranian drone in the Arabian Sea, even as investors awaited a new round of nuclear talks scheduled for Friday.

Gold, silver rate today live: Gold futures continue upward momentum

Gold futures also registered strong gains on the commodities bourse. The yellow metal for the April contract appreciated by Rs 5,868, or 3.82 per cent, to Rs 1,59,677 per 10 grams.

In the previous session, the metal had jumped Rs 9,818, or nearly 7 per cent, to settle at Rs 1,53,809 per 10 grams. "Gold and silver rebounded sharply after the steep selloff of the past few sessions, supported by a weaker dollar, though gains in domestic markets were capped by a softer USD/ INR," Manav Modi, commodities analyst, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, said.

He added that investor interest returned after gold corrected nearly 15% over the last three trading days, prompting value buying and short covering.In the international market, silver surged $4.28, or 5.03%, to $89.35 per ounce, while gold jumped $100.03, or 2.02%, to $5,047.07 per ounce. Gold, silver rates today live: Precious metals extend rally; gold reaches Rs 1.65 lakh, silver jumps to Rs 2.98 lakh

Gold and silver prices extended their sharp rally for the second straight day on Wednesday in the national capital. The white metal surged to Rs 2.98 lakh per kg while gold jumped to Rs 1.65 lakh per 10 grams. According to traders, the rally comes on the back of global trends, a weak US dollar, which revived investor interest in precious metals after last week's steep sell-off. According to the All India Sarafa Association, silver soared by Rs 14,300, or 5.03 per cent, to Rs 2,98,300 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes). The white metal closed at Rs 2,84,000 per kg in the previous session.

Gold of 99.9% purity also advanced sharply, gaining Rs 7,400, or 4.69%, to Rs 1,65,100 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes), compared with Tuesday's close of Rs 1,57,700 per 10 grams.

"Gold and silver extended their rebound on Wednesday, with gold prices rising over 3% and touching around Rs 1.6 lakh per 10 g, while silver jumped as much as 6 per cent intra-day after a period of sharp volatility and correction," Gaurav Garg, Research Analyst at Lemonn Markets Desk, said.

Gold, Silver Rates Today Live: Solid gains

Silver and gold futures continued to move higher for a second straight session on Wednesday, building on a rebound from last week’s sharp decline, supported by firm global cues and a softer US dollar.

Data from the Multi Commodity Exchange showed that silver contracts for March delivery advanced Rs 16,853, or 6.29 per cent, to trade at Rs 2,84,868 per kilogram. The metal had already reversed its three-session losing run on Tuesday, when prices surged Rs 31,754, or 13.4 per cent, to finish at Rs 2,68,015 per kg.

Gold futures also posted solid gains on the exchange. The April contract rose by Rs 5,868, or 3.82 per cent, to Rs 1,59,677 per 10 grams. In the previous trading session, gold had jumped Rs 9,818, close to 7 per cent, to settle at Rs 1,53,809 per 10 grams.

Gold and silver futures extended their upward momentum for a second straight session on Wednesday, lifting commodity-linked exchange traded funds by as much as 9 percent during the day. The rise was underpinned by heightened geopolitical unease after the US military said it had shot down an Iranian drone close to one of its aircraft carriers. Additional support came from value buying at lower price points, along with weakness in the US dollar, which helped buoy gold.

Among silver-backed funds, Edelweiss Silver ETF, Kotak Silver ETF, Mirae Asset Silver ETF, Zerodha Silver ETF and Tata Silver ETF recorded gains of up to 9 percent in Wednesday’s trade.

Gold-focused funds also saw strong buying interest. Silver and gold prices in the national capital snapped a sharp three-session slide and posted a strong recovery on Tuesday, supported by positive global trends and a softer US dollar. Silver jumped by Rs 24,000 to reach Rs 2.84 lakh per kilogram, while gold advanced to Rs 1.57 lakh per 10 grams.

Data from the All India Sarafa Association showed that silver surged Rs 24,000, or 9.23 per cent, to settle at Rs 2,84,000 per kg, inclusive of taxes. The metal had finished at Rs 2,60,000 per kg in the previous session after suffering a steep decline of Rs 52,000.

The rebound followed a heavy sell-off over the past three days, during which silver prices tumbled by Rs 1,44,500, or nearly 36 per cent, from the record peak of Rs 4,04,500 per kg recorded on January 29.

Gold of 99.9 per cent purity also staged a recovery, climbing Rs 5,000, or 3.3 per cent, to Rs 1,57,700 per 10 grams from Monday’s close of Rs 1,52,700 per 10 grams, according to the association.

The precious metal had earlier dropped Rs 30,300, or close to 17 per cent, from its all-time high of Rs 1,83,000 per 10 grams touched on January 29, as investors engaged in profit booking following a strong rally.

Silver and gold futures staged a strong comeback on Tuesday, supported by bargain hunting after investors stepped in following a steep three session decline in domestic markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery rallied sharply, climbing Rs 29,372 or 12.43 per cent to trade at Rs 2,65,633 per kilogram. During the session, the metal surged as much as Rs 34,137, or 14.4 per cent, touching an intraday peak of Rs 2,70,398 per kilogram, compared with its previous close of Rs 2,36,261 per kg on Monday.

The sharp rebound followed an intense sell off between Friday and Monday, when silver tumbled 41 per cent, shedding Rs 1,63,632 per kg and eroding a significant portion of investor value. The correction came after the metal had scaled a lifetime high of Rs 4,20,048 per kilogram on January 29.

Gold futures also recorded a notable recovery after retreating heavily over the past three trading sessions. The April contract jumped Rs 7,923, or 5.5 per cent, to Rs 1,51,914 per 10 grams on Tuesday. Over the previous three sessions, gold prices had dropped by nearly Rs 40,000, or 22 per cent, from the closing level of Rs 1,83,962 per kg recorded on January 29.

"Gold price has rebounded significantly from the bottom of 137,000 by ~12% in recent session and currently trading near 153,000. “Spot gold is currently trading with a daily gain of over 5% at $4932. The metal is sharply up today as the US Dollar weakens.

Data released yesterday showed that S&P US global manufacturing PMI at 52.40 topped the estimate of 52 as US ISM manufacturing PMI (January) at 52.60 Vs the estimate of 48.50 marked the first month of expansion in manufacturing sector in 12 months. Among silver-linked funds, 360 ONE Silver ETF recorded the strongest move, surging nearly 13% to an intraday high of Rs 256 from its previous close of Rs 234. Zerodha Silver ETF followed, rising 11% to a day’s peak of Rs 26.39, compared with Rs 23.7 earlier.

Other silver ETFs, including those from Mirae Asset, HDFC, UTI, Kotak and SBI, also posted solid gains of up to 10%.

Spot gold rose 2.2 percent to $4,767.33 an ounce by 0318 GMT, recovering from a near one-month low touched on Monday. The metal had surged to an all-time high of $5,594.82 last Thursday. U.S. gold futures for April delivery climbed 3 percent to $4,791.10 an ounce.

Spot silver advanced 2.8 percent to $81.61 an ounce, after having touched a record high of $121.64 on Thursday.

Gold Silver Rates Today Live Updates: Gold and silver prices have rebounded in trade on Tuesday after a sharp and brutal selloff since last Friday’s trading sessions. In the international markets, both gold and silver prices recovered in trade. While spot gold was up around 2.2%, spot silver rose 2.8% in trade. Gold has recorded its strongest monthly performance since November 2009 in January. It has risen almost 13 percent, while silver has surged 19 percent over the same period. In times of global uncertainty, gold is traditionally the go to asset, often called the safe haven that investors flock to for stability and security. Amidst rising tensions in the last few years, and especially the trade war unleashed by US President Donald Trump, gold prices have been rallying strongly. Silver too is seeing a big surge, courtesy growing industrial demand. In other metals, spot platinum edged up 0.6 percent to $2,134.10 an ounce, following a record peak of $2,918.80 reached on January 26. Palladium, however, slipped 0.5 percent to $1,711.0 per ounce.

The markets endorsed Warsh's nomination by US President Donald Trump as someone relatively credible and so we saw the dollar move on that basis and again, that was kind of like the pin that popped the big precious metals, said Kyle Rodda, senior market analyst at Capital.com.
