HUL to acquire 14% in recycled plastic packaging company

MUMBAI: The board of directors of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has approved the acquisition of a 14.3% stake in Lucro Plastecycle, a company that operates in the recycled flexible plastics segment. HUL did not disclose the value of the transaction.

HUL's investment is in line with its sustainability efforts to scale up the use of recycled flexibles content in packaging. Through the investment, the firm aims to strengthen plastic circularity by increasing the availability of recycled content for flexibles.

"This investment is a significant step in building the capabilities in recycling and developing the circular economy model for plastic, which is in line with our firm belief that what is good for India is good for HUL," said CEO & MD Rohit Jawa.
