Meerut Metro: India’s ‘Fastest’ Metro Service Unveiled!

Meerut Metro: The all new Meerut Metro trains with swanky passenger amenities have been unveiled! The Meerut Metro is being called the ‘fastest’ metro service in India, once it becomes operational. To be operated by NCRTC, the executing agency for the Delhi-Meerut rapid rail project, the 100% ‘Make in India’ Meerut Metro trains have several passenger comforts. We take a look at Meerut Metro’s speed, route map, stations, key features, images & more:

Meerut Metro Speed

Meerut Metro will likely be the ‘fastest’ metro train service in India with its coaches designed for a speed of 135 kmph. The train will operate at a maximum speed of 120 kmph. Incidentally, Delhi’s Airport Metro also operates at 120 kmph speed.

Meerut Metro Seating

Meerut Metro will be a fully air-conditioned train service, which will boast of comfortable cushioned seats in the 2x2 transverse and longitudinal seating arrangements and several modern amenities for the convenience of passengers.

​Meerut Metro Train Passenger Capacity​

Meerut Metro train passenger capacity: A single Meerut Metro train with 3 coaches will have the capacity to transport more than 700 passengers. Seating will be available for 173 passengers.

​Meerut Metro Trains​

Meerut Metro Train Features: Meerut Metro trains will have luggage racks, grab handles, CCTV cameras, USB mobile charging facilities, dynamic route maps, and various other modern amenities for passengers' ease of travel.

Meerut Metro Doors

Meerut Metro Features: According to NCRTC, energy consumption will be reduced through the use of push buttons for selective door opening. This means that when the train will halt at the station, you will have to press the button on the door to exit/enter the train.

Meerut Metro Features: Integrated safety measures in the Meerut Metro trains include a passenger emergency communication system, fire extinguishers, alarms, and talk-back systems. The train also has space for parking wheelchairs.

Meerut Metro Special Features: The Meerut Metro train is equipped with a regenerative braking system and the train is compatible with Automatic Train Protection (ATP) and Automatic Train Operations (ATO).

Meerut Metro Exterior

Meerut Metro Exterior: The exterior of the Meerut Metro trainsets features a color scheme of fluorescent green, blue, and orange. The trains have been manufactured by Alstom at their facility in Savli, Gujarat.

Meerut Metro Route Map

Meerut Metro Route Map: The Meerut Metro corridor extends for 23 km, with 13 stations and the distance will be covered in 30 minutes. The stations along the route are Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahampuri, Meerut Central, Bhaisali, Begumpul, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, Modipuram and Modipuram Depot.
