Global capability centres (GCCs) have become the biggest hirers in Indian tech and continued to be the best paymasters in the tech industry in 2023

Global capability centres or GCCs started in India as back office operations. Today, they are at the cutting edge of technology, driving key initiatives of their parent companies. Over 5,000 global leaders sit out of these GCCs. And big multinational companies (MNCs) that do not have GCCs are set to establish them.

In the past few years, GCCs, the tech and shared services arms of MNCs, have mushroomed across the country to provide support services, such as IT, finance, human resources and analytics to their parent organisations, handling complex tasks across the organisation's value chain. Today, they serve as operational excellence centres, product development hubs, and innovation centres.
