Stock market today: Stock market indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower after initial gains in a volatile trading session on Friday, breaking their two-day positive momentum as investors reduced positions in realty, oil & gas and healthcare sectors amidst mixed global market signals. Continuous foreign fund withdrawals also affected market sentiment.

The BSE Sensex index fell 329.92 points or 0.43 per cent, closing at 76,190.46. During trading, it declined by 428.63 points or 0.56 per cent to 76,091.75.

The NSE Nifty finished at 23,092.20, down by 113.15 points or 0.49 per cent.

Among the prominent Sensex constituents, Mahindra & Mahindra, Zomato, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports and Bajaj Finserv were the main decliners. Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra, Nestle, Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank showed positive performance.

Asian markets showed mixed results, with Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong closing positively while Tokyo declined. The Bank of Japan increased its primary interest rate to approximately 0.5 per cent from 0.25 per cent.

European markets traded positively, while US markets closed higher on Thursday.

US President Donald Trump, speaking on Thursday at the World Economic Forum, promised reduced taxes for businesses manufacturing in the US whilst warning of tariffs for those who don't.

Speaking via video conference at the forum's Annual Meeting, Trump indicated his intention to request Saudi Arabia and OPEC to reduce oil prices, stating that lower prices would immediately end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The president highlighted global food price increases and described taking swift action to control American inflation.

"I promise to eliminate 10 old regulations for every new regulation... I am going to pass the largest tax cuts in American history to help our people," he noted.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 5,462.52 crore on Thursday, as per exchange data.

The global oil benchmark Brent crude increased by 0.27 per cent to USD 78.50 per barrel.

In the previous trading session, Sensex gained 115.39 points or 0.15 per cent to close at 76,520.38, while Nifty rose by 50 points or 0.22 per cent to finish at 23,205.35.
