Stock market today:
Nifty50 and
BSE Sensex, the Indian equity benchmark indices, ended in red for the third consecutive day amid persistent foreign fund outflows.
The NSE Nifty, consisting of 50 shares, fell by 41.55 points or 0.16 per cent, reaching a week's low of 25,818.55. The BSE Sensex, comprising 30 shares, decreased by 120.21 points or 0.14 per cent, settling at 84,559.65. During trading, it fell by 263.88 points or 0.31 per cent to 84,415.98.
Among Sensex companies, the top losers included Trent, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bharat Electronics, Titan and Asian Paints. Conversely, State Bank of India, Infosys, Axis Bank and Maruti were the top gainers.
Exchange data revealed that Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 2,381.92 crore on Tuesday, whilst Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased stocks valued at Rs 1,077.48 crore.
Asian markets concluded positively, with gains in South Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai's SSE Composite index, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index.
European markets showed upward movement, whilst US markets largely declined on Tuesday.
The global oil benchmark, Brent crude, increased by 2.12 per cent to USD 60.17 per barrel.
On Tuesday, the Sensex declined by 533.50 points or 0.63 per cent, closing at 84,679.86, whilst the Nifty decreased by 167.20 points or 0.64 per cent to 25,860.10.
