NEW DELHI: At least 13 school students suffered burn injuries when a picnic bus caught fire in West Tripura's Mohanpur on Sunday, according to officials.
Nine students were shifted to GBP Hospital in Agartala for further treatment, while four others were discharged after receiving care at a local medical center, as per West Tripura SP Kiran Kumar.
The incident occurred when a generator, placed inside the bus, exploded, leading to the fire. "The bus caught fire due to a blast of a generator which was kept inside the vehicle. An investigation is underway," Kumar said.
Expressing concern, chief minister Manik Saha extended his prayers for the injured students' recovery and emphasized the government's efforts to provide immediate medical assistance.
"Deeply concerned about the unfortunate incident in Mohanpur, where a picnic bus caught fire following a generator blast. Praying for the speedy recovery of the individuals injured in this tragic event," Saha wrote on Facebook.
The chief minister assured that the administration is monitoring the situation closely and urged people to prioritize safety during outings. "I urged everyone to be cautious and mindful while enjoying the picnic," he added.
