Adopt India’s traditional lifestyle to achieve SDGs: G20 experts
Agartala: Addressing the ‘University Connect Lecture Series’ on ‘Engaging Young Minds’ as part of India’s G20 Presidency at the Tripura University on Friday, experts suggested that the new generation should be motivated to adopt a lifestyle based on the country’s traditional practices and eco-friendly culture, and to combat the impending climate change crisis.The programme aimed at showcasing the youth as cultural ambassadors, who can develop long-lasting relationships with the G20 fraternity, giving the young Indians an opportunity to bring new perspectives and ideas to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).Besides, leading academics and scholars, Tripura youth affairs minister Tinku Roy, former diplomat Lalduhliana Ralte, director of Institute of International Trade Dhanpat Ram Agarwal and founder and CMD of Bandhan Bank Chandra Sekhar Ghosh highlighted PM Modi’s mission for India. Prof Sabyasachi Dasgupta listed actions for saving energy and water, reducing the practice of single-use plastic, sustainable food habits, reducing waste, including e-waste, modification of lifestyle for a better future and urged the youths to follow and propagate the pro-earth regime.Meanwhile, Dr Sushil Kumar, assistant professor at the Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries, informed that under the ‘Arogya Maitri’ (Wellness Friendship), India would offer necessary medical supplies to the countries of the developing world that have been impacted by natural disasters or humanitarian crises. India would establish a Centre of Excellence for Global South for learning from each other’s experiences, he added.
