BJP releases ‘chargesheet’ against CPM, Cong in state

Agartala: The ruling BJP in Tripura on Monday released a “chargesheet” against opposition CPM and Congress detailing the political crimes allegedly committed during five years of Congress and 25 years of Left Front rule.BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee termed their electoral alliance an “opportunistic understanding” of the rejected political parties and alleged that both the parties were power mongers especially the communists, which didn’t allow any other party to grow and that Congress supporters were the biggest victims.

“But people will not forget the atrocities of communists on Congress supporters. The CPM’s dream of coming back to power will not be fulfilled because the people of Tripura and the country as a whole have made up their minds in favour of Narendra Modi,” Bhattacharjee said.He, however, asked the saffron workers to abstain from violence. The communists remained in power using the tactics of threat, intimidation and violence and in this election, they will also attempt to disrupt peace and create chaos but BJP supporters and workers shouldn’t fall prey to their design, Bhattacharjee cautioned.Former CM Manik Sarkar, meanwhile, expressed concerns over the promises made by BJP ahead of Lok Sabha elections. He said under Modi’s rule, the country has lost the spirit of democracy, poorer sections of society have been pushed to poverty, Indian currency has become weaker and no democratic institution functions properly.
