ECI suspends 3 Tripura staff for violating poll code

Agartala: Three more employees of Tripura govt have been put under suspension following instructions of the Election Commission for violating the mode code of conduct. So far, five govt officials have been suspended for flouting the poll code.
Earlier, two govt employees, one of them a jawan, were put under suspension for attending political programmes of the ruling party.
Election officials here on Tuesday said govt employees put under suspension on Monday include under-graduate teacher posted at Nabin Pally JB School in Sadar sub-division, a jawan of Tripura State Rifles, 7th battalion, Kishan Debbarma, and night guard posted at Gopal Nagar Senior Basic School in Mohonpur sub-division Rashu Choudhury.
Meanwhile, ECI held a special meeting on “Mission Violence Free Election 2024” on Monday to keep the Lok Sabha elections and assembly byelections free from violence where chief electoral officer Punit Agarwal, chief secretary JK Sinha, director general of police Amitabh Ranjan directed poll officials and security personnel to adopt zero-tolerance towards trouble mongers.
