Telangana guv flags off truck carrying relief aid for Tripura

Agartala: Telangana governor and former Tripura deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma has flagged off a truck carrying essential relief materials from Hyderabad for the flood-hit families in Tripura.
The consignment, sponsored by the Indian Red Cross Society Telangana state branch, is expected to reach Agartala on Wednesday, as per officials. The relief materials will be distributed among the affected people by the Tripura branch of the Red Cross Society.
The truck contains baby food, clothing, mosquito nets, emergency medicine, and other necessities intended to support 1,000 affected families. Governor Dev Varma took to social media, stating, “Wherever there is calamity, The Red Cross is always there. Today, as President of the Red Cross Society of Telangana, I flagged off the relief materials for the victims of floods in Tripura.”
The CM’s Relief Fund has swelled to over Rs 100 crore, thanks to generous donations from the common people of the state and the govts of UP, MP, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal and Assam. The Centre has also sanctioned a primary grant of Rs 40 crore.

A Central Team arrived to assess damage, estimated at Rs 15,000 crores. Efforts to provide immediate relief and restore infrastructure are underway, focusing on drinking water and healthcare.
