AGARTALA: The Biplab Kumar Deb-led BJP-IPFT government in Tripura was left red faced after Union minister for social justice and empowerment Ram Das Athawale raised questions about the law-and-order situation of the state and wrote to director general of police (DGP) seeking security of his party leaders here.

wrote a letter to DGP VS Yadav asking him to provide security to Republican Party of India’s (RPI) state president Satyajit Das for his organisational work. Allegedly, RPI workers and leaders, especially the state president, has been threatened and intimidated for eight months.

The letter referred to an incident that occurred on December 1, when Das was on his way to Khumulwng from Udaipur via

and Jampuijala and his vehicle stopped by a group of persons who read out a letter which carried threats and banned him from any work in any part of the state. Das’s vehicle had also been attacked near Bishalgarh tea garden. In another incident, he was targeted near Kayerpur and injured in stone pelting.
