Agra: Man smothers daughter to death after she comes to rescue mother

AGRA: A man was booked for killing his 19-year-old daughter in

Firozabad

, after she came to rescue her mother from a scuffle that took place between the couple.

Identified as Dinesh Kumar Yadav, the accused later buried his daughter Sheelam’s body near Yamuna river bank and fled. The incident took place in Lekhrajpur village of Matsena police jurisdiction. Later, the victim’s mother Shakuntla Devi called her brother

and the duo went to the river bank to retrieve Sheelam’s body.

Based on Anil Kumar Yadav’s written complaint, the accused was booked under IPC section 302 (murder).

Speaking to TOI, Rajesh Kumar, SHO, Matsena said, “The autopsy report confirmed that the victim was smothered to death. Later, the accused buried his daughter to avoid arrest.”

“A father of three children, Dinesh is a habitual alcoholic and often engaged in physical fights with Shakuntla. On Tuesday night, the accused came home heavily drunk and engaged in a heated argument with Shakuntla. When Sheelam attempted to intervene in order to rescue her mother, he took his daughter to another room and smothered her to death with a pillow,” said SHO.

On Wednesday, a FIR was lodged in the case. By the time this report was filed, Matsena police was yet to arrest the accused.
