AGRA: A 15-year-old girl was killed in a
celebratory firing
during a birthday celebration in the
Firozabad district of UP
.
The incident took place on Sunday night in Tapa Khurd village of Uttar police jurisdiction. The deceased was identified as Sadhana of Shahzadpur village of Karhal police jurisdiction of Mainpuri district.
The victim had come to her elder sister Nitesh’s home (in-laws) along with her father Sukhvasi to attend the birthday of a kid, when she sustained bullet injury.
Speaking to TOI, Uttar station house officer Keshav Dutt Sharma said, “During the birthday celebration, Nitesh’s brother-in-law Akash Kumar (20) was engaged in the celebratory firing. He had borrowed a licensed rifle of his relative Pramod to fire shots in air. One of the bullets fired from the rifle hit the teenager and she succumbed to her injuries.”
“After the incident, accused Akash and rifle owner Pramod went absconding. We have registered a case against Akash based on the written complaint of the victim’s father, but will also take action against Pramod, for handing over his rifle to Akash,” added SHO.
On Monday after the autopsy, Sadhana’s body was handed over to his family who cremated her.
