Boy commits suicide by jumping in front of running train

AHMEDABAD: In a gory incident which took place late on Sunday night a 16 year old boy

Shyamnarayan Gautam

committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train near

Cadila Bridge

in Vatva area of the city.

The irony in the incident is that while both elder brothers of the victim

Ramnarayan

and Vidhyanarayan made no efforts to trace the boy after he went missing on Sunday evening, Ramnarayan discovered the body of his younger brother while he was going to work on Sunday.

Local social worker

Harshad Patel

said both the brothers Ramnarayan and Vidhyanarayan run a carpentry business and while Ramnarayan was going to work, he noticed a crowd gathered beneath the railway under bridge near Cadila.

“However when Ramnarayan went near the spot, he recognized that the dead body of the body lying on the tracks in pieces was of his younger brother. We called in the police control room to inform them about the incident and even arranged for shroud for the dead body” added Patel.

Vatva GIDC police is probing the incident after registering a case of accidental death. Police sources said Shyamnarayan and brothers are native of Uttar Pradesh.

“While Ramnarayan and Vidhyanarayan were living in the city since a long time, their younger brother had come to the city about six months back. He used to assist his brothers in the carpentry business” added a police source.

Senior police officials said Shyamnarayan who has studied till class six, had arguments with his brothers about having food on Sunday evening. “The boy later left the house. Brothers thought that he will return and went to sleep. However even on Monday morning none of them cared to search for him” added a police source.

“We have not yet recorded the statements of Shyamnarayan’s brothers as the family was waiting for their parents who arrived in the city late on Monday night for the last rites. We will probe the case and try to find out if the boy was abetted by someone to commit suicide” added a police official.
