Gujarat ready to achieve zero-casualty monsoon goal: Chief secretary
Gandhinagar: Chief secretary Manoj Das presided over a high-level meeting of senior officers from various state departments to comprehensively review Gujarat’s preparedness ahead of the upcoming monsoon season. According to an official statement, representatives from multiple line departments presented their meticulously drafted disaster management and contingency plans to tackle potential weather emergencies.
To ensure rapid response capabilities, a total of 14 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 22 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have already been strategically deployed across vulnerable districts to spearhead rescue and relief operations if required.
Quoting the chief secretary, the official statement emphasized that the state machinery is fully geared up with a strict “zero-casualty” goal during the heavy monsoon spells.
Civic bodies, district collectors, and emergency services have been instructed to maintain seamless inter-departmental coordination, monitor low-lying areas constantly, and establish round-the-clock control rooms to handle waterlogging, structural collapses, and potential flood situations effectively.
