Man promises BJP election ticket, pockets Rs 20 lakh

AHMEDABAD: Usman Ganchi,

a resident of Jamalpur

, has lodged a complaint with

city crime branch

that one Rahul Dhyani had taken Rs 20 lakh for a

BJP ticket

from

Jamalpur assembly constituency

for the upcoming assembly polls. Crime branch sleuths said they have arrested Dhyani who projected that he is very close to some of the top national leaders of the BJP.

Usman Ghanchi, an hotelier and a BJP worker for 15 years, said Dhyani promised him a poll ticket and took Rs 20 lakh from him. “However, when the BJP allotted the ticket to Bhushan Bhatt of Khadiya for Jamalpur assembly seat, Ghanchi realized that he had been cheated. He had asked Dhyani to return him the money. However, when Dhyani avoided his calls, he has lodged a complaint with us,” said a crime branch official.

Crime branch said they are also probing whether Dhyani has cheated any other poll ticket aspirant by claiming that he had close contacts with top BJP leaders.
