​Surendranagar election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Chandubhai Chhaganbhai Shihora vs CONG's Rutvikbhai Lavjibhai Makwana

In a landslide victory, Chandubhai Chhaganbhai Shihora of the Bharatiya Janata Party clinched the seat with a remarkable 6,69,749 votes, surpassing his Indian National Congress rival, Rutvikbhai Lavjibhai Makwana, by an astounding margin of 2,61,617 votes. Makwana received 4,08,132 votes, while Dabhi Ashokbhai Sukhabhai of the Bahujan Samaj Party trailed behind with 12,036 votes.


Surendranagar Lok Sabha constituency is one of Gujarat's 26 Lok Sabha constituencies. It is a general category parliament seat. The constituency went on for the election in the third phase on May 7. There are over 19.76349 lakh voters in the constituency. The voter turnout this year was 1256210 which is 63.56%.

Surendranagar constituency braces itself for a high-stakes showdown between the BJP led by Chandubhai Chhaganbhai Shihora and the Congress-led by Rutvikbhai Lavjibhai Makwana.

BJP maintained its stronghold in both previous elections. In the 2019 general election, Dr. Mahendra Munjapara of BJP emerged victorious with 631,844 votes. Somabhai Gandalal Koli Patel was the runner-up with 3,54,407 votes. In the 2014 general election, Devajibhai Fatepara emerged victorious by 5,29,003 votes while his counterpart Somabhai Gandalal Koli Patel from INC received 3,26,096 votes.

The constituency comprises of entire Arvalli district and the entire Sabarkantha district, part of Ahmedabad district, and the entire Surendranagar district. Surendranagar Lok Sabha constituency comprises 7 legislative assembly segments which are Viramgam, Dhandhuka, Dasada, Limbdi, Wadhwan, Chotila, and Dhrangadhra. All the seven assembly seats are represented by the BJP.
