Rs 348 crore for sewerage in Ajmer, Beawer, Kishangarh

AJMER: A budget of Rs 348 crore has been sanctioned under the AMRUT yojna to develop sewerage system in Ajmer, Kishangarh and

Beawer

cities of the district. Under the project, sewerage lines will be laid in these cities and 26,000 sewerage connections will be made in

Ajmer

city.

The municipal corporation has already built two water treatment plants, with

Anansagar

lake unit having a capacity of 13 MLD while the plant at

Khanpura

lake can treat 20 MLD. “One more water treatment plant at Khanpura lake is under development which will have a capacity of 40 MLD,“ said

Kedar Sharma

, executive engineer of the corporation.

The budget, which has been sanctioned recently , includes laying of sewerage lines in Kishangarh and Beawer of approximately 100 and 115 kilometres respectively. A 42 km long sewerage line in Foisagar, Dargah and Nagphani in the Ajmer region is on the cards. “ Ajmer already had a sewerage line of more than Rs 70 crore but it is not functional since last eight years.

Sources said the corporation has started giving connections in some of the areas to avoid open sewerage on roads but still sewerage lines need to be checked. “We have planned to provide 26,000 connections of sewerage with main line,“ added the official. He said sewerage is a major problem in Ajmer and the main sewerage channel passes from the centre of the city.
