PRAYAGRAJ: The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela is attracting attention not only for the unparalleled arrival of devotees to Prayagraj but also for the different seers who have become famous for their unique identities. Among them, two seers are attracting huge crowds because of the gold ornaments and items worn by them.

Of the two, Mahamandaleshwar Arun Giri of Shri Panchadashanam Aawahan Akhara wears gemstone rings, gold bracelets, and diamond watches all weighing 6.7 kg of gold.

Another seer, associated with Niranjani Akhara, SK Narayan Giri, who originally hails from Kerala, is known as Golden Baba. The 67-year-old Baba wears about four kg of gold jewellery, with an estimated value of Rs 6 crore. He has been made mahamandelshwar of Niranjini Akhara.

Dedicated to environmental protection, Arun Giri, also famous as Paryavaran Baba, planted more than one crore saplings so far and pledged to distribute 51 thousand fruit plants in Maha Kumbh. He wears gemstone rings, gold bracelets, and diamond watches, which he believes transmit energy that helps him in his meditation. Along with the jewellery, he became famous as Golden Baba in Maha Kumbh. He was injured in a road accident last month.

Likewise, 67-year-old SK Narayan Giri can be seen wearing a gold chain, rings, bracelets, etc., all together weighing about four kg, with an estimated value of Rs 6 crore. Even his stick is decorated with gods and goddesses, all made of gold. This Baba also believes that his jewellery is a symbol of his devotion towards his Guru and his worship. He believes in carrying religion and education together.

Soon, another seer, Adityanand Giri, who formed Shri Dashnaam Sri Sant Gurudutt Akhara, will also be arriving at Maha Kumbh on January 23. This seer wears 5 kg of gold ornaments and believes that it gives the energy of the Sun god. He works for the protection of cows and hails from Baroda, Gujarat. He will camp at sector 13 of the mela area. This seer performed marriages of 150 girls, all by himself.

Earlier, Sudhir Kumar, popularly known as Golden Baba, also attended the 2013 Maha Kumbh and 2019 Kumbh but passed away during Corona. He used to wear jewellery weighing several kilos of gold. He was the first to be named Golden Baba. He made the journey from the world of crime to becoming a Sanyasi. He used to live under the protection of 30 private guards.
