HC asks lawyers to resume work from today

Prayagraj: Taking into consideration the statewide lawyers’ strike over the Hapur incident, a division bench of Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker and Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi asked the agitating lawyers to resume work from September 5. Additional advocate general, representing the state government, informed the court that in pursuance of demand of lawyers, retired district judge Hari Nath Pandey led special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident. The court also asked the state authorities not to take any coercive action against any advocate whether named or not in the incident. On the demand of transfer of officials, the court said at this stage it cannot pass any order for transfer, as the SIT report is awaited. tnn
