Despite a thick blanket of fog, the cold breeze, and the bone-chilling waters of the Ganga at Sangam, lakhs of devotees from all walks of life remained undeterred in their enthusiasm as they took the holy dip on the occasion of 'Paush Purnima' on Monday. The Maha Kumbh 2025 officially began with vibrant chants of bhajans and slogans. The energy at the Sangam area was palpable as pilgrims, many in groups, walked towards the river Ganga, chanting 'Jai Ganga Maiyya' before taking the sacred dip. The state government reported a significant turnout of devotees from both India and abroad at the Sangam Ghat. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his warm greetings on this auspicious occasion. This edition of the Kumbh Mela, held after 12 years, is even more significant, with seers noting that the celestial alignments for this event are occurring once in 144 years, adding to its spiritual importance.
