Around 20 volunteers of 20 women self-help groups (SHGs) would start working on the THR Nutrimix plant project in eight blocks, including Baharia, Koraon,

Shankargarh

, Phulpur,

Mauaima

, Saidabad, Bhagwatpur and

from August onward.

A whopping amount of Rs 1 crore will be spent for setting up these THR plants.

The fact is that these THR plants were first introduced by the state government in Fatehpur and Unnao districts in the first phase and after witnessing its grand success, the state government has moved the proposal to set up the THR Nutrimix plants in 43 districts of the state.

Prayagraj district mission manager Amit Shukla said, “Efforts are underway to set up THR Nutrimix plants in eight blocks of the district which would be supplying key and essential eatables to over 4,000 aganwadi centres spread across 23 blocks of the districts.”

He added that “around 20 members of 20 women’s SHGs will be preparing food stuff at these THR Nutrimix plants in the coming months under UP State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM).

“For setting up plants, spots have been identified in all eight blocks,”said Shukla, adding, “All the formalities for setting up the units have also been completed.”

Shukla added that THR will be providing food kits to kids and pregnant or lactating women at aganwadi centres. Low-cost, energy-dense, fortified blended foods (THR) is a perfect supplement to the diet at many aganwadi centres.

Under the initiative, ready-to-eat and ready-to cook food, dry rations and hot cooked meals are provided to the beneficiaries. The scheme will help women

volunteers to increase their income. Each SHG member will get sustainable livelihood through preparation and supply of THR.
