Two sons of Atiq lodged at child protection home: Police to court
Prayagraj: After almost one month’s suspense, the police department on Friday disclosed before the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) that two minor sons of mafia don and accused in Umesh Pal shootout case, Atiq Ahmed, are lodged in the child protection home at Rajrooppur, Prayagraj. While taking the report filed by the station house officer of Dhoomanganj on record, CJM Prayagraj Dinesh Kumar Gautam on Friday fixed March 27 for the next order. Earlier, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Prayagraj had on March 20 issued a show-cause notice to the station in charge of Dhoomanganj, Prayagraj for not submitting report in response to an application of Shaista Parveen, the wife of Atiq Ahmed, regarding the whereabouts of their two minor sons, and had fixed March 24 as the next date of hearing.Shaista Parveen had moved an application on February 27, alleging that her two sons — Ahzan Ahmed and Aaban Ahmed — were picked up by the police for interrogation on February 24 after the killing of Umesh Pal, who was a witness in BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.Atiq, his wife Shaista, brother Ashraf and two sons of Atiq have been named as accused in the Umesh murder case. In her application, Shaista had alleged that her two sons were picked up by the police on February 24 from her residence and their whereabouts are not known since then. Besides, no information regarding her sons was being provided by the policemen of the Dhoomanganj police station.Hence, in this backdrop, she had requested the CJM to ask for a report from Dhoomanganj police and appropriate action be taken.Earlier, at one stage, the police had submitted a report that Ahzan and Aaban had been lodged in the child protection home after they were found roaming in the Chakia locality of Prayagraj. However, the name of the child protection home was not mentioned in the report. There are several child protection homes in Prayagraj.Subsequently, the counsel for Shaista Parveen had pleaded that these two sons were not in the child protection home of Khuldabad at Prayagraj. Hence, the police must disclose the name of the place and the district where these children have been kept in a child protection home. A criminal case in connection with the killing of Umesh Pal along with his two security guards has been registered in the police station of Dhoomanganj in Prayagraj district.
