ALLAHABAD: A Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pranav Mishra was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Monday morning near Sonepur road under Jethwara police station.
Allahabad range DIG KP Singh told TOI that an unidentified pillion rider, who was travelling with the lawyer had asked him to stop the bike near Sonepur road.
As he stopped the bike, two unidentified armed and masked men opened fire at him. The assailants escaped after locals spotted them.
Police rushed to the spot and started investigation. Two police teams have been formed to probe the case.
