Andhra Pradesh: Tirupati east police arrest 8 persons in dacoity case and recover Rs 88 lakh stolen cash

TIRUPATI: Tirupati east police arrested 8 persons in connection with a dacoity incident and recovered Rs 88 lakh stolen cash and a four wheeler from the possession of the accused on Thursday.

According to Tirupati SP P Parameswara Reddy IPS, a resident of Narasaraopeta identified as

Meher Srinivas

was given Rs 90 lakh by his owner Satish to be handed over to his sister and Meher Srinivas later took a bus to Tirupati on 9th of this month.

When Meher Srinivas reached Tirupati and got off the bus near a private hotel, he was picked up by a gang who posed themselves as ID party police. The gang who forced Srinivas into their vehicle, grabbed his mobile phone and the cash he was carrying by threatening to kill him. They later dropped him off at an isolated location and escaped.

Srinivas, who took the help of passersby, called up his boss Satish and informed him that he was robbed of the entire cash that he was carrying. Following the advice of his boss, Srinivas lodged a complaint with the Tirupati east police who registered a case and took up investigation on April 11.

Special teams led by DSP T Murali Krishna who investigated the case arrested the 8 member gang involved in the crime near Nayudupeta along the Chennai-Kolkata highway and recovered Rs 88 lakh and a vehicle from the accused.

The accused arrested by the police were identified as T Srinivasa Rao, Durga Rao,

Veerisetti Sreenu

, Veeranala Gangadhar, Sayyed Hussain, Patan Rasool,

Sayyed Hussain Basha

and Munnangi Ramesh, all belonging to different parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Tirupati SP P Parameswara Reddy appreciated the efforts put in by east DSP T Murali Krishna and his team in arresting the 8 member gang besides recovering almost the entire stolen amount.
