Addressing a press conference on Saturday, additional SP K Ravi Manoharachari stated that a pre-planned attack was executed at Nancharampeta-Muthyalapadu villages on October 21-22, leading to the brutal murder of 19 year old TDP activist Mallarapu Hari Prasad.

While the attack was the outcome of a long-drawn political rivalry between the TDP and the YSRCP backed groups coupled with local land disputes, police investigation revealed that several persons backed bythe YSRCP, surrounded the house where TDP activists Mallarapu Hari Prasad and Katayya were sleeping at Nancharampeta on October 21 and set the house on fire. The mob also torched a bike parked in front of the house.

When the two TDP activists, who were suffocated after the house was set on fire, ran out of the house to save themselves, they were cornered and attacked indiscriminately with knives and sticks.

While 19 yr old Hari Prasad died on the spot, Katayya managed to save himself.

Meanwhile, the Chillakur police who registered multiple cases including a murder case in connection with the attack, arrested 14 persons allegedly involved in the crime.
