Hubby slits professor's throat, arrested

TIRUPATI: A man slit the throat of his professor wife and tried to flee at the arts college premises at Anantapur district headquarters on Thursday. According to police, the victim, Sumangali, who teaches commerce at the arts college, had got separated from her husband Paresh. Paresh called Sumangali to the arts college grounds on the pretext of having a chat and tried to kill her by slitting her throat with a knife. However, , students and lecturers at the college rushed to her rescue. On seeing them, Paresh tried to flee the spot.While students rushed the professor to a hospital, Anantapur police took Paresh into custody and registered a case.
