TIRUPATI: Srikalahasti YSRCP legislator Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy laid the foundation stone for various temple development works worth approximately Rs.4 crore on Wednesday.

Accompanied by Srikalahasteeswara Swamy Devasthanams chairman Anjuru Srinivasulu, Srikalahasti legislator took part in the Bhumi Puja for the modernization works to be undertaken at Sri Yedu Gangamma temple annexed to the ancient Srikalahasti temple. About Rs.38 lakh will be spent towards the renovation of this ancient shrine.

Meanwhile, the foundation stone was also laid for the modernization of Sri Kumara Swamy temple and for the construction of Maha mandapam at the centre of the town by spending Rs.2.9 crore.

The Srikalahasti legislator also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new shopping complex near Draupadi sametha Dharma Raju temple by spending Rs.70 lakh.

Speaking to reporters later, Madhusudhan Reddy observed that several sub shrines and ancient smaller temples were neglected through the decades and had reached a dilapidated state, calling for the urgent attention of the rulers.

"These age-old structures are epitomes of our ancient history and the rich heritage needs to be passed on to the next generation by preserving them through refurbishment. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and Srikalahasti Devasthanams have come together to revive several such ancient temples in the last couple of years", Srikalahasti legislator asserted.
